New Year, New Focus!
By A. Lin. Thomas
"Like a city whose walls are
broken through is a person
who lacks self-control."
(Proverbs 25:28, NIV)
Happy NEW YEAR! Now that 2021 is over it's time to refocus. I know, it's been quite a rough year. But if you are reading this, you have been blessed to have made it through it. Now it's time to recalibrate! What is it that you need to do this year? Do you have a mandate from God? Have you set your goals?
Every year we make promises to keep our promises to ourselves and our future success, but we often break our own promises. Why? Because of lack of focus. It's easy to say what you would do, but the challenge is in actually doing it. It's a harsh reality that we must all face given the fact that we sometimes, give up too soon. Especially, when life gets hard, and circumstances don't bring easy results. Throwing in the towel seems like the best way to overcome the pressure to finish what we started.
However, if we are truthful with ourselves, we can easily admit that circumstances and life's issues can't really stop us if we don't want to stop. We only stop trying because we've lost our ambition. And we've lost our ambition because we've lost our focus. We just let something, and everything else pull us off course. Now we are focused on problems rather than our dreams, goals, and purpose.
Staying focused is not easy but absolutely necessary if our success is to manifest. Singleness of purpose and action-oriented laser focus is a must. You will almost have to come off as selfish to accomplish what's important to you. Your time, creativity, and relational interactions will all be affected while you are working toward accomplishing your dreams, goals, and purpose. You don't have to shut everyone out, you just have to establish time boundaries.
TIME! This is the great equalizer. We all have the exact number of hours in our day, the only difference between our success and failure is how we spend them. Every hour should be spent wisely and dedicated to fruitfulness. Planning is the first stage, but working is the best stage. When we establish our time boundaries, we will spend our time more efficiently. Give time to who is most important, and to what is most important. When we get back into focus, we will do what it takes to walk in our success. Success is the end result, but staying focused will get us there.
