We Are Fearfully And Wonderfully Made!

“I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
(Psalm 139:14, KJV)
Have you ever noticed the creases of skin on your knuckles? I did a few months ago. Honestly, I really never noticed them before. They were just a part of my hand that I paid no attention to. But when I folded up my fingers, I saw how the excess skin disappeared. There was just the right amount of skin available to let me close my hand. And what I really saw, was how effortless it was. Wow! It reminded me that God is meticulous! He created us with just the right amount of everything we need to function in our bodies.
I also noticed that when I blink, the skin moves to assist my eyelids in moving. When I bend my elbow, the skin moves effortlessly, too. The skin folds have a unique purpose for our good and yet they go almost unnoticed. It made me stand in awe of the goodness of my God! I know it seems like a small thing to take notice of, but the real value is that God created us this way. He took the time to think of all of these features to assure that the human body is able to function at its optimal best.
The next time you close your hand or blink your eyes, remember to give thanks that you can with little to no effort. I am mindful to give thanks because there was a season when I couldn't open my hands or blink my eyes, so I can tell you from first hand experience, it's not a gift to be taken for granted, even if it is almost unnoticeable.
Prayer:
Father, I thank You, that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I thank You for restoring me, and for giving me the ability to use my body to honor You. May my walk, my talk, and my living be evidence of Your goodness in me. My I never compromise my holiness and righteousness to be a part of a vain world. And may I be reminded daily as I go about my day, that You are God and You are always thinking of me. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen!
