Changing Seasons

By A. Lin. Thomas

It's that time of year again. The time when the long, cold winter ends and moves aside for the warm spring to enter. This is a wonderful season and a time we look forward to. It's the time of refreshing. A time when flowers are blooming, birds are singing, and people are excited to get out into the warm sunshine.

There are other changing seasons in life, too. A season when we are moving from one spiritual season to another. Some are coming out of a hard spiritual winter, into a heartwarming springtime of renewal. While others are entering into a cold spiritual winter, praying for the season to end and bring relief.

Whichever, season you find yourself transitioning from or into, just remember, God is the author of seasons; spiritual and natural. So, every season in our lives has purpose for eternal growth. And, as much as we hate the pruning, we need it just as much as we need the watering and the sunshine.

Jesus reminds us in John 15:1-2 (NIV), "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

As we can see growth must take place, but it cannot except when growing conditions are right through rain, sunshine, pruning, and time, to produce good fruit.

Every season has a purpose and every day within that season is useful to obtain the desired effects; a life full of good fruit. Don't despise the growing process, take advantage of it by growing stronger in the goodness of God. Let His Word water you, His Will prune you, and His Way establish you for a life a fruitfulness.

Prayer:

Father, in these necessary changing seasons, please keep us safe, and healthy. Help us to know how to navigate the changes with wisdom and clarity following the leading of the Holy Spirit. We are not always in tune with Your Word or Your will, so help us to spend quality time in Your presence, seeking guidance and Your wisdom. We thank You, Lord for Your constant faithfulness. In the name of Jesus, amen.
