The Shift-A New Direction

(Part Three)

By A. Lin. Thomas

From following God’s gentle instructions, one day I woke up; able to breath, eat, speak, hear, see, and move better. Getting completely back to my normal would take years of physical therapy (between me and God) every morning at 2:00 a.m. He also led me into exercising. He became the Champion of my soul, my life, my health, my strength, and my purpose.

After two years of fighting a battle I had no idea how to win or even, if I would win, I was back to living on my own. It was during that season when God prompted me to go on my first fast. I had never fasted before, but I sensed the urgency of His prompting. I followed the fasting schedule of a ministry program that I watched daily; they were fasting for 40 days. I only reached 21. However, in those 21 days, I noticed how much energy I had, even though I wasn’t eating anything, I only drank water and fruit and vegetable juice. I also noticed how clear my vision had become, and how beautiful my skin was. It was radiant.

As I ended my fast, God led me to seek help for my sinuses. I still couldn’t breathe through my left nostril. It turned out that I had a cyst that was blocking the air flow. I had two surgeries to correct my nose, and it restored my breathing. But the most important impact of the fast that I noticed, was how clearly, I could hear God’s voice. It was like He was sitting with me, having a deep conversation about which direction I needed to take, and which goals I needed to set to get there.

Before, I moved out on my own, I quietly inquired of the Lord, “How do I get up from here?”

His reply to me was, “I am going to make you a public speaker, and I am giving you a healing ministry.” This was after He had instructed me to “Go to church services.”

I thought that meant me selling herbal remedies, because those where the tools He used to restore my body. It wasn’t until 2008 when I found out what He really meant (that’s in the book also). But I can tell you that spending that quality time with God saved my life, changed my life, and redirected my life.

In one of our conversations, the Lord told me, “You were wearing yourself out working that job.” Then I found the scripture that says, “Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. In the blink of an eye wealth disappears, for it will sprout wings and fly away like an eagle” (Proverbs 23:4-5, NLT).

I found that to be true for me, because I was working, making what I thought was good money, and then it was gone. In an instant. I didn’t think I was chasing after riches, I just wanted to survive. However, God had a better plan for me.

To be continued.
