Have you ever noticed that when it comes to dating and mating it’s the one area that we seem to rush into, sometimes blindly? Have you ever thought about why? Well, let me tell you. It’s because the devil has an agenda; and its to rush you quickly into the wrong kind of relationship, so that you’ll be so off course, distressed, and frazzled that God can’t do anything with you. You’ll be spending all of your waking energy and time just trying to figure out how to get along with Mr./Miss wrong.

 

During one of my most poignant conversations with God over the eight years that He spent re-educating me about mating, He said, “Just because you pray to Me and immediately someone shows up, don’t automatically think that he/she is my answer.”

 

He went on to explain, that if you are operating in desperation, He can’t answer you, but the devil will, and he will rush you in the wrong way, at the wrong time, with the wrong person, for all the wrong reasons. His motive is to derail the plan of God for your life, so he often does this by manipulating your thoughts or your relationships.

 

God went on to explain that most people mate wrong because of brokenness or lack of knowledge about mating. That brokenness breeds desperation, and that lack of knowledge breeds destruction. Hosea 4:6 (KJV) reminds, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”

 

It is so vitally important for us as God’s sons and daughters to know the will of God. We must have a working knowledge of the way God designed us to live, mate, minister and prosper. If we don’t, we will be misled into foolishness which goes against the will and peace of God. And that detour will be disastrous for us and our family.

 

I found out the hard way that, God will not give you a mate that you are not ready to serve. Minutes after I was born-again, I asked God for a mate. His response to me was, “If I give you the mate that you want, you will mess him up.”

 

I was insulted and took that as a “no.” Three, short months later the devil decided to answer me with a yes. As a new believer, I fell for the trap and found out that God knows best!!! And He will not give you what will harm you or someone else. However, He will give you time to heal while He renews your mind and prepares you for that sacred, intimate service. Being old enough to mate is one thing, but being wise enough to know how to mate is crucial for your success in mating, marriage, and family life.

 

Although you may be lonely, hurting or just desperate for companionship, please take your issues and your desires to God, and talk it over with Him. Then let Him lead you in the way that you should go. Please, Please, Please!!! Don’t let the devil rush you into a relationship that you are not prepared for. He doesn’t care anything about you, he’s out to destroy you and your future.

 

Prayer:

Father, please forgive me for my lack of knowledge in the past. Help to prepare me for mating in the wisdom of Your word and wise counsel. Remove any residual issues or brokenness from my soul. And open my eyes to see who is authentically for You and me. I desire to be part of the three-stranded cord that is not easily broken, so please protect me from making anymore fleshly relational covenants. I will wait on Your guidance so that You can walk me into the righteous, holy, mating relationship that I desire with You and my mate. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen!
